‘It’ Gets September 2019 For A Sequel

Stephen King’s adaptation of It into a movie became the highest grossing horror film of all time. It raked in $266.1 million in USA and $478.1 million worldwide, pushing The Exorcist to second place with $233 million in USA and $441.3 million worldwide. These figures have not been adjusted to inflation. New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have announced that Pennywise would be returning to theatres and Imax locations on September 6, 2019. The Clown will return to terrorize the audience once again. ‘It’ brought the magic back to the cinema after a slow summer followed by a slower August. Not only did the movie break records for highest-grossing horror movie, but also broke the record for highest grossing September release in North America.

The movie is R-rated and revolves around a bunch of friends who defeat a demon clown in the city of Derry, Maine. While the book went back and forth between the group defeating Pennywise as kids and as adults again, the film adaptation mainly revolved around the friends defeating Pennywise as kids this year. This movie was portrayed as a past version. The sequel will focus on the friends defeating the Demon Clown as adults but might contain flashbacks of this year’s version as well, giving us a chance to meet some of the cast all over again two years from now.

One of the scriptwriters for this year’s It, Gary Dauberman, has already closed a deal with the production house for the sequel. The director of this year’s blockbuster, Andy Muschietti, is also returning, sending hopes of another blockbuster spine-chilling movie into the audience. This year’s producers, Barbara Muschietti, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg, are also likely to bring in their contributions to the sequel. Warner Bros. also announced the film adaptation of Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans Go to be released on July 27, 2018.
