Katy Perry was announced as the first judge of the revival of American Idol. The choice for Luke Bryan as a second judge seemed logical, given the network’s relations with country music. While ABC, Fremantle and Core Media have refused to comment, an official announcement is expected to hit the news soon. Lionel Richie and Charlie Puth were also among the ones considered for the position but now, neither is likely to be selected as the third judge. The choice for Ryan Seacrest took nearly three months of negotiation even though his role as a host was considered almost final by many a long time ago. Bryan and the third judge are not expected to even reach the same star wattage as Katy Perry, who reportedly signed a $25 million contract for the judging. ABC, Fremantle and Core Media have always been talking about the cost of running the show after the show suffered financial issues during its original Fox run.
