Toilet: EkPrem Katha leaked and returned

A story broke on the internet that Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Toilet: EkPrem Katha has landed in a USB drive which in turn found its way to Remo D’Souza’s gym trainer Vithal. Although the copy of the film has been returned safely to the producers, it had caused quite an uproar in the news.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch is investigating the matter and it was found that co-producer Shital Bhatia’s assistant, Akansha, had forgotten the USB drive somewhere which had eventually reached Vithal’s possession. Vithal lives in the same building as Remo D’Souza who Vithal called and insisted on to see the contents of the drive. Although skeptical at first, Remo D’Souza took a leap of faith and watched the movie, realizing that the USB contained the entire second half of the movie.

He tried calling Akshay Kumar but was unable to reach him as Akshay Kumar is currently in London shooting for his upcoming movie, Gold. He then called producer Prerna Arora who in turn called director Shree Narayan Singh and sent him to Remo D’Souza’s office to get hold of the leaked copy.

Remo D’Souza said in a statement that Vithal told him that the USB drive contained the first half of the movie but on watching the clip, he realized that it was the second half and as a filmmaker, understood how it felt to have a leaked copy of a movie doing rounds in the market before the movie hits the screens.

There are some controversial statements by Vithal claiming that he came upon the USB drive in Lonavia, while there are some reliable sources claiming that he got the USB drive in Mumbai itself. It is unknown whether Akansha is still working for Shital Bhatia or she is fired, but for now, the movie remains safe in the hands of the producers and there are, reliably, no copies in the public.
