National #TNCrisis: Sasikala To Surrender Today in Bengaluru; Golden Bay Resort Witnesses Record Police Presence By Fabnewz Team Posted on February 15, 2017 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin The ongoing crisis in the southern bastion of Tamil Nadu continues to be on the boil today as V.K. Sasikala is to surrender in a Bengaluru court after the AIADMK general secretary’s conviction was not stayed by the apex court of the country. The focus will now shift to the governor of TN, C. Vidyasagar Rao, who is expected to hear both the factions in the AIADMK, one led by acting Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who incidentally has been removed from the party, and the other by Edapadi K. Palanisamy, who is the chief minister-designate. Both the men had met the governor last night to stake their claims to form the government. An image from Zee News showing Sasikala at Jayalalithaa’s grave, with police at the Golden Bay Resort On Monday, V.K. Sasikala was convicted in the Rs. 66-crores Disproportionate Assets or DA case. The court had asked the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary to surrender forthwith. Today, Sasikala, who has been in the eye of the storm, reinducted her close relatives TTV Dinkaran and S Venkatesh into the party, in what critics describe as a last gambit. Both of the two new entrants had been removed from the party by J. Jayalalithaa, five years ago. She will not be able to contest the CM’s post for 10 years after the lower court’s verdict sentencing her to four years’ prison term, along with two of her relatives, was upheld. The move has not elicitated any repsonse from O. Panneerselvam. The Curious Case of The Golden Bay Resort Today, V.K. Sasikala visited Jayalalithaa’s burial site on Marina Beach before leaving for Bengaluru. In the meantime, scores of Tamil Nadu Police personnel have been reportedly deployed outside the Golden Bay Resort in Kuvathur, where a majority of the AIADMK MLAs are lodged, in what some reports state as forcible confinement. Apparently, the police have given the MLAs time till 3PM to vacate the resort. In other major developments, PTI reports that Sasikala and the CM-designate Edapadi K. Palanisamy have been booked by the police for what is being described as a mass detention of AIADMK legislators. The AIADMK organization secretary Karuppaswamy has stated that TTV Dhinakaran appointment is unacceptable, says CNN-News 18. He has resigned. TTV Dhinakaran, who is also Sasikala’s nephew, was appointed the Deputy General Secretary of the AIADMK a mere minutes after he was re-inducted into the party by his aunt. By 5 PM today, Sasikala is expected to reach the Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru. The formal surrender will be before a court on the prison premises. After mandatory formalities, including a medical check-up, are performed, she is set to be lodged in the women’s section of the jail. Things have taken a dramtic turn after AIADMK MLA S Saravanan filed a FIR against Sasikala and K Palanisamy accusing them of detaining him at the Golden Bay Resort despite his vocal protests.
